For Vanessa Quarles, providing a safe and nurturing space for children has always been more than a business — it’s a calling. As the owner of Bridges Transitional Preschool & Childcare Ministries, Vanessa dreamed of moving her center to a location that was more accessible for families across Evansville. But finding the right space — and the funding to make it her own — wasn’t easy.

Determined to keep moving forward, Vanessa connected with CDFI Friendly Evansville Region, who helped her build partnerships with two community development financial institutions (CDFIs). Together, they helped her secure the capital needed to bring her vision to life.

With that support, Vanessa moved Bridges Transitional Preschool & Childcare Ministries to its new home at 2528 Waterbridge Way, Evansville, IN 47710. The funding allowed her to remodel the interior to create a brighter, more open learning environment — and to purchase new playground equipment for her growing group of young learners.

Since moving, Vanessa has been able to hire additional staff and welcome 25 more children into her care, expanding the impact of her ministry and strengthening the community she serves. Her journey is a testament to perseverance, purpose, and the power of investing in people who make a difference.
